Overnight masks, in general, are great quick fixes. They’re one step above wash-off masks and can truly deliver instant results. Please note, the term “instant” here means no miracle in the way that they will cure all of your skin problems – NO. So, if you’re expecting that, you’ll probably new here and need to read this post. Anyway, overnight masks are usually more nourishing and moisturizing on the skin, instead of being clarifying. I don’t think using a clarifying mask overnight is a good idea. Can you imagine how dry the skin will be in the morning? *shivers*
This is one of those products that I keep coming back to. It just works whenever my skin needed it. It just does.
NUDE Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask.
What it is (from the web):
Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask nourishes and soothes stressed skin with vitamin-rich fig and softening honey extract. Cupuaçu butter delivers essential omegas 6 & 9 that hydrate and protect, while peptides smooth out wrinkles and form a moisture barrier. Wake up to revitalized skin.
I can’t believe it took me this long to review this product. No, actually I can and I’m aware of it. Between procrastination and work pressure, this post has been in my draft for over a year. Before then, I started using this product the year before. In total, this has sat in my skincare arsenal for more than two years.
NUDE Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask is a secret weapon that I rarely reveal, hence the secrecy – kidding! It’s just because I only use it on very special occasions. I’d bust this out whenever my skin hit rock bottom which is not often, thank goodness. On severe cases, this is the one I choose, even more so than the beloved TATCHA Indigo Soothing Triple Recovery Cream. Say, if you’re in a video game fighting a boss, you’d have multiple weapons and combinations to defeat it. My second-in-command would be TATCHA. Ultimately, there’s one item that will always seal the deal. This is where NUDE Overnight Mask reigns.
The only reason that I don’t use it as often as I want to is because this has a very rich consistency and feels heavy on my combination skin. I’m also a little afraid that my skin might break out from such heavy texture although I never experienced it so far. That being said, the results I’m getting from this overnight mask is nothing short of spectacular. It’s also addictive too, which sometimes made it hard to stop. But, exercising restraint and being cautious are always the best policy.
The rich texture is credited to Shea Butter and Cupuaçu Butter. The consistency actually reminds me of a body butter. Heavy duty. Quite thick and doesn’t spread too wide. It needs a little bit of effort working it in but the warmth of the hands will help greatly. Other loving ingredients present are Milk Protein, Glycyrrhetinic Acid (to aid sensitized skin), Fig Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Honey Extract, Glycolipids (for skin’s barrier), more fatty acids and antioxidants, even probiotics (in the form of Bifida Ferment Lysate).
The main purpose of NUDE Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask is to nourish and soothe stressed skin. I couldn’t have agreed more. The definition of “stressed” here is when the skin feels extra dry/taut, inflamed or irritated, whether it’s from weather change, environmental aggressors or other factors such as going a little over with the exfoliation *ehem*. It can be used nightly or as needed. Because of the heavy texture, I stick for nighttime use only. Hypothetically-speaking, if I were to live in a four-season country and it’s currently the dead of winter, I’d use it on daytime too.
I tend to reach for this after a session of clarifying (with May Lindstrom The Problem Solver for example) or exfoliation (with Bravura acid peels). I relied heavily on this when I was still using Sunday Riley Luna Oil too. It’s also marvelous for post-flights, after a Bali-trip, or places where the weather is extreme. Or anytime when I feel my skin could really use a serious pick-me-up. It was a little bit uncomfortable to use in the beginning because I can feel there is something sitting on my face – more so than usual. The overnight mask not only moisturizes the skin, but also feels very incredibly protective. Think of it like an extra layer of glove.
Every time I used it, my skin would be most likely alleviated from those issues above in the next morning. The name “Repair” here isn’t just a marketing gimmick or empty promises. It truly does deliver for me. When my skin felt inflamed or irritated, there were usually small bumps sparsed across my face. I often find the skin is abolished of that when I wake up. Very, very little redness too. All the dryness and tightness were gone. I can move my face freely again. No dry patches. No itchiness. Moreover, my skin looked even-toned, supple and radiant. As if yesterday’s sorrow was just a bad dream.
The offwhite cream doesn’t have much of an eloquent scent, quite neutral but I feel some may not like it because it smells like a medication. I usually use a little over pea size then spread evenly across the face. There isn’t any cooling or warming sensation. Doesn’t tingle either. Just neutral yet insulating. I like to rub off the residue on the elbows too, because why not *HA*. Just like TATCHA, I like to depot it into a small jar and carry it with me whenever I travel. It feels good knowing that I have all the safety nets with me in case something awry headed my way.
The only thing that I don’t like about it, and I’m slightly pushing it here, is the packaging it comes in. It may look cute in its taro purple cube glory and all, but it’s not ergonomic. It’s a little awkward to hold and takes quite a space. I keep it in the box for easy storage like I always do with most of my skincare products. There’s no spatula but I always have several lying around. Yeah, it’s barely any deal breaker.
There is actually about less than a 1/4 of this product left and it’s unusable now as it has changed in color and texture. I am actually surprised that I can finished such heavy-duty moisturizing product (in cream format, no less). It simply proves how much I love NUDE Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask and often reached for it consciously and unconsciously.
Now the worrying bit.
I planned to get this again but it’ll have to wait since this UK brand isn’t available as widely as it used to be. I got mine from MECCA in Australia but unfortunately they don’t carry the brand anymore. Sephora US don’t have it either. It’s currently available in its own website and SpaceNK. That being said, the last time NUDE made an Instagram update was on June 2016. The brand was acquired by Beautycounter last year (read here, here and here) and there isn’t any update/progress seen just yet. Fingers crossed everything is alright.
