The Beauty Chef Probiotic Skin Refiner

September 17, 2017

This was a product that had once piqued my interest for a really long while. It’s The Beauty Chef Probiotic Skin Refiner. I first came across it while I was browsing Gourmet Skin Bar, a Hong Kong-based online organic beauty boutique. Kept wondering what it is. It sounds very fascinating but the price tag was quite a hindrance. Though now looking back, the website has the cheapest price, but my opportunity was gone. About a year later after that, I failed to restrain myself (again) and decided to try it.

As a discretion, this product is a little bit tricky to find. The Beauty Chef is an Australian brand and not many international retailers carry it. I had a chance to get it in person at The Detox Market boutique in Toronto last year but decided to give it a pass due to the even higher price tag. It was CAD 80 + 13% tax which comes to CAD 90.40, or almost IDR 1 million. Ouch. However, I kept kicking myself ever since I got back so I was determined to get it.

I had a friend who lives in Australia and he was able to get it for me, except he doesn’t want me to pay for it. Thank you, if you’re reading this, you know who you are! For my second bottle, I had another friend carried it for me from Australia as well. Now that I’m coming to the end of the second bottle, I’m going to have to find someone to get it for me again. I should try Hong Kong this time 😉

The whole loot; all formulated and blended by us!

Ah. The memory is still clear to me. Three months ago, I joined Skin Dewi Organic Skincare Workshop. Not wanting to have any expectations, actually leaving me home with all the priceless experience and new knowledge. The workshop made me feel like I’m still in the same world but in a different dimension. Stepping into a whole new level. Refreshing and stimulating, yet still familiar.

Have you read these posts? You should. They will fill you in.

Acne and Blemish Busters – Spot Treatment Options

August 1, 2017

One of two most asked questions I receive often is how to get rid of acne. The other being how to fade the spots they leave behind. Acne is a bitch to begin with. It’s most people’s biggest nemesis in terms of skin problem. I don’t think there’s anyone out there who wants to have any. It doesn’t matter whether a person only have one or the whole skin is covered with them. Dealing with acne is a tough work, even continuous to many.

It’s not just about skincare, because it can only do so much. It comes down greatly to our genes, lifestyle and environment. There are potent treatments like Roaccutane for severe cases and I have seen some gruesome side effects from it – this I would only recommend if you have problem that’s rooted internally. Otherwise, sticking to topical treatment and taking great care of our health are the best bet.

This post though, will cover the topical treatment that I have tried, specifically for spot treating.

Leahlani Champagne Serum – Happy Hour Any Time!

July 6, 2017

I’m aware that it has taken me this long to review this product. I’ve used it for nearly two years and mentioned it often in my blog and Instagram. Even with the multiple requests, I failed to deliver. I think it’s because I want people to try this product with no expectations or reservations. It was a beautiful discovery on my part and I wish for others to experience the same.

Or maybe, it’s the other way around. Sometimes I feel selfish not wanting to share great gems because in several occasions, the product went sold out and I wasn’t able to have a back up LOL. Well, sharing has its pros and cons. That being said, ultimately, I’m most happiest when I can help others 🙂

Here you go, it’s time to put it down, digitally. May I present, Leahlani Champagne Serum.

Making Skin Cocktails with Odacité SYNERGIE[4] Masque

July 4, 2017

When it comes to skincare, I have a soft spot for multi-functional products that offer versatility in terms of formula and usage. Products like these don’t just give me a run for my money, but also add plus points in the experience department.

We tend to like masks as a once-a-week (or more) treatment because they usually give instant results that we can enjoy the next morning, or throughout the day, depending on when we use it. I’ve started on mixing different masks for quite a while now to elevate the function or simply creating an even more pleasant routine.

Odacité SYNERGIE[4] Beauty Masque* is one of those masks.

Skin Dewi Organic Skincare Workshop – Connecting The Dots

June 2, 2017

I can’t tell you enough there were butterflies in my stomach that Wednesday morning. It oddly reminded me of day one at a new school. These little jitters. New environment. Meeting new faces. I kept telling myself “you’ll be fine, you’ll be alright”. One thing for sure though, I can’t wait for the class to start.

It’s worth noting that I intentionally didn’t read the Skin Dewi workshop module beforehand. I didn’t know the details of what we’re going to do in the next 3 days. All I knew that it’s going to be about organic skincare formulation. It was a deliberate and wise decision on my end because I wanted to start with a clean slate. No prejudgments. I didn’t want to fill my head with certain expectations or assumptions. Coming in with an open mind had indeed served me well throughout the course.

I am actually conflicted whether or not I should tell you what we did in the workshop. I feel like I might be giving you too many spoilers. But I’ll throw breadcrumbs here and there 😉

BASIC SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanse – Hydrate – Moisturize – Protect (SPF)

Sunscreen at daytime, always.
Double Cleanse at night, a must!

Exfoliate regularly, as necessary, and don’t overdo it.
Don’t forget to use a Hydrating Toner after Exfoliating Acid Toner to prevent dryness and irritation.

Opt for calming and soothing products more than anything else. Pick gentle cleansers. Aim for hydration and moisture. Maintain the skin barrier.

Proper hydration and balanced moisturization are key to achieving a healthy skin, even if your skin is oily.

Always be gentle on your skin.
