Kanebo Chrono Beauty – Japanese Skincare at its best

June 5, 2018 Leave a Comment

Last year, I got the chance to try out Kanebo’s newest line of skincare called Chrono Beauty. This line speaks to my heart as someone who appreciates the importance of maintaining a good, solid skincare routine. Because after all, healthy skin requires a long-term commitment. And of course, I’m partial to Japanese skincare.

Just a heads up, I absolutely adore this line and I’m really relieved that I finally can write down my thoughts about the line and the products I’ve tried. Some of the products have been an integral part of my routine, including prepping my skin for our big day last November.

Let’s begin!

My Japan Holiday Trip 2018 – Skincare Routine

March 14, 2018 Leave a Comment

Just recently, we went for our honeymoon. We chose Japan because we’ve been wanting to go there again ever since our first time. There was no need to make a decision of where to go because we already knew!

Following the post on my skincare routine during the trip 2 years ago, I’m going to do the same for this one as well. It is still winter time. But this time, I was trying to be a little more straightforward and less fussy with the routine. Because we were going to be there for 2 weeks, I carried all full-sized products with me.

Keyword: focus on hydration and moisturization.

Shall we begin?

NIOD CAIS + MMHC

December 14, 2017 Comments : 2

Deciem is a Toronto-based company and the umbrella for different brands that have gained massive popularity in say, less than 2 years. One of the brands, The Ordinary, is probably the most successful after only being launched a little over a year ago and has become an instant cult favorite for many. Since my visit last year, Deciem has grown exponentially, landing a (controversial) investment with Estee Lauder (read here, here and here) and short to say, there’s no stopping them at this point. Brandon Truaxe has really set out what he intended to, disrupt and challenge the beauty industry.

In the past year, I’ve been trying several of the products, specifically from NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science). In all seriousness, reviewing these products is a challenge for me. I am intimidated by them. NIOD is very science-based and my brain just doesn’t go that far up there. The terms and jargons used are way above what average people might understand. And I get that. It’s pushing us to go out of the box and be more critical.

Despite all of this, I am going to attempt to convey my thoughts, in the best possible, The Fruit Compote way. Let me start with NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1.00% (CAIS) and Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (MMHC).

Leahlani Champagne Serum – Happy Hour Any Time!

July 6, 2017 Comments : 5

I’m aware that it has taken me this long to review this product. I’ve used it for nearly two years and mentioned it often in my blog and Instagram. Even with the multiple requests, I failed to deliver. I think it’s because I want people to try this product with no expectations or reservations. It was a beautiful discovery on my part and I wish for others to experience the same.

Or maybe, it’s the other way around. Sometimes I feel selfish not wanting to share great gems because in several occasions, the product went sold out and I wasn’t able to have a back up LOL. Well, sharing has its pros and cons. That being said, ultimately, I’m most happiest when I can help others 🙂

Here you go, it’s time to put it down, digitally. May I present, Leahlani Champagne Serum.

Dancing in Waters – Beloved Combo

March 14, 2017 Comments : 3

This combo that I cheekily named Dancing in Water was quite a favorite of mine in 2016 and it was discovered by surprise. I received each of the products at a different time. I had used them separately and suddenly had an inkling to layer them together. Then the magic happens.

The major keyword in this post will be hydration. The two products in the spotlight are TATCHA Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate* and Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream*. I will individually review them and hopefully it’ll explain why the combo got its name 😉

The Reformulated Shiseido White Lucent Series

November 9, 2016 Comments : 5

Years ago, when I first started my skincare journey, one of the first things I wanted to tackle was hyperpigmentation. I developed these dark spots during my younger days not wearing sunscreen and found out I am prone to it anyway thanks to my dad’s genes. I am also aware that they don’t go easily so I never hoped for anything miraculous. It’s a long-term journey and I’m up for it.

The first skincare products that I tried that specifically target this issue is Shiseido White Lucent, the old one with the white and pale pink packaging. I used three products: the lotion, serum, and emulsion. I used this set in the morning until I finished my second bottle of the serum. Not many knows, but I don’t play much with my morning skincare routine. I usually stick with the same products over and over again with very few rotations. I keep the big guns at night, that’s why. But having a brightening set was something I always try to have in the routine and morning time is the perfect allocation for it. So after the old Shiseido White Lucent, I moved on to a different brand but with similar functions. Then after seeing results, I figured I’d lay off and try the usual mash of different brands à la Kae.

Then suddenly, Shiseido revamped the whole thing.

Odacité Bl+C – Handy Little Helper

September 19, 2016 Comments : 2

After Pa+G, Odacité Bl + C (Black Cumin + Cajeput) is my second pick from its Serum Concentrate line. I specifically wanted this because God knows I suffer breakout once in a while and I need to be prepared.

It was a little bit tricky at first but I found the leeway into it.

BASIC SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanse – Hydrate – Moisturize – Protect (SPF)

Double Cleanse at night, a must!
Sunscreen at daytime, always – after moisturizer.

Exfoliate regularly, as necessary, and don’t overdo it.
Don’t forget to use a Hydrating Toner after Exfoliating Acid Toner to prevent dryness and irritation.

Opt for calming and soothing products more than anything else. Pick gentle cleansers. Aim for hydration and moisture. Maintain the skin barrier.

Proper hydration and balanced moisturization are key to achieving a healthy skin, even if your skin is oily.

Always be gentle on your skin.

PATYKA Intensive Moisturizing Mask, it has this Pa PATYKA Intensive Moisturizing Mask, it has this Parisian je-ne-sais-quoi quality that is just effortless. This product reminds me of something that I’d love to carry during long-haul flights. After cleansing the skin, just apply the product and either watch a movie or go to sleep to avoid the jet lag. And reapply when needed.

Into the description, it’s formulated to give a hydrolipidic film to the skin, or rather, to protect the skin barrier and strengthens it when needed. It contains an ample amount of emollients and Hexapeptide-11; a chain of peptide with 6 amino acids that are used to increase collagen production, boost elasticity and firmness in the skin. The mask also acts as an SOS product.

The slightly pale bluish-cream gives out a heavier moisture that it looks actually. I thought it was just going to be on the lightweight side, but turned out, I do not need it as much. It can be applied thicker, leave on for a 15-20 minutes, massage it in and take the excess off if needed. It’s great but, no, I do not want to waste this whatsoever 😂 So I always use it as sleeping mask after a serum or a face oil (PATYKA Repair Night Serum is a great complement to this btw!). It’s beautiful that way and quick too.

It softens my skin, making it filled with nourishing moisture to last through the night while snuggling in my blanket. And perhaps, during my travels, in my dreams 😴😴

The unique floral powdery scent is quite an echo to the other PATYKA’s products. This is another interesting find from the brand. Available at @cnfstoreofficial.
