Yoshimomo Alpha Beta Toner – Low Key

Here’s another hidden gem in the form of exfoliating toner, though I never really talk about it often. Perhaps because I enjoyed it a little too much that I don’t want to share it, just yet *smirk*

The Reformulated Shiseido White Lucent Series

Years ago, when I first started my skincare journey, one of the first things I wanted to tackle was hyperpigmentation. I developed these dark spots during my younger days not wearing sunscreen and found out I am prone to it anyway thanks to my dad’s genes. I am also aware that they don’t go easily so I never hoped for anything miraculous. It’s a long term journey and I’m up for it.

The first skincare products that I tried that specifically target this issue is Shiseido White Lucent, the old one with the white and pale pink packaging. I used three products: the lotion, serum and emulsion. I used this set in the morning until I finished my second bottle of the serum. Not many knows but I don’t play much with my morning skincare routine. I usually stick with the same products over and over again with very few rotations. I keep the big guns at night, that’s why. But having a brightening set was something I always try to have in the routine and morning time is the perfect allocation for it. So after the old Shiseido White Lucent, I moved on to a different brand but with similar functions. Then after seeing results I figured I’d lay off and try the usual mash of different brands à la Kae.

Then suddenly, Shiseido revamped the whole thing.

All Three Bravura Acid Toners in One Bowl

So, aside from buying Bravura Acid Peels, I also went on getting all the three acid toners as well. I figured I can further tailoring the exfoliating routine down to the T with these.

In the beginning, I thought they would be more less the same but I actually can notice the difference between all three. Without further adieu, let’s get to them.

My Japan Holiday Trip – Skincare Routine

I thought I should share what skincare products I brought and used during my recent Japan trip. This particular one is special because I’ve yet traveled in any winter weather since I started my skincare journey few years ago. So let’s just say this is sort of an educated experiment that turned successful.

Obviously, I researched and visualized the weather conditions and temperature. It was the end of winter, coming into spring. With that in mind, I had a general idea of a set of products that I want to bring with me. Of course, they have to fit into my skincare bag. I had to negotiate here and there to make sure the bag isn’t too heavy. The total weight overall came to around 1 – 1.5 kg, I think. Or probably more *HA*. The bag did feel heavy.

Another info you need to know is I got sick a couple days before my departure. Sore throat, fatigue, headache. All escalated into one nasty cold, congestion with frequent coughing within the first few days of my trip. Thank goodness, I was prepared.

Without further adieu, let’s get to it!

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist – Spritz Away

My fellow followers would probably know that I had featured this product in my Instagram posts and Periscope for a while now. I figured, I might as well make a proper review out of it.

I used this product once years ago, long before I embarked on a full-on skincare journey. I loved it then but I didn’t have the commitment in being diligent, yet.

Few months ago, I got invited into an intimate gathering held by Jurlique Indonesia. There, I got the chance to try its infamous Rosewater Balancing Mist again. I was reminded why I loved it in the first place. I was given a 50 ml bottle as a PR Sample and I finished it up quite easily.

Without a second thought, I made my way back to the store and got myself a 100 ml bottle.

Let’s get to it, Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist.

PIXI Glow Tonic – Yes with Caution

It seems, “Double Toning” is all the raaaage lately. It just means using two toners, an exfoliating toner and a hydrating one. I’ve been doing this for more than a couple of years now, not knowing of this term until a while ago. Or maybe it has been there for a long time, I’m just the one who doesn’t read enough :p
So when famous names in the beauty world started to rave about this particular step, I was like patting myself on the back. I’m on the right track here.

It just sort of comes natural to me, to put a hydrating toner on top of exfoliating toner, which is usually more acidic and tends to be drier on the skin. Just to keep things balanced. It’s logical.

My first (accidental) encounter with exfoliating toner is none other than First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and I still use it to this date. Second one, which apparently is also an exfoliating toner, is the Blemish Patrol Pads from the same brand. I can’t say enough about these two workhorse wonders. There are also a few others that I’ve tried.

Set that aside, I’m adding the cult-favorite PIXI Glow Tonic to join my arsenal.

Innisfree Haul – Straight from Korea!

I had mentioned sometime ago that the only Korean brand that I’m interested in (as of now) is Innisfree. The brand is simple, low profile with its natural ingredients and green approach. It has a lot of charm but doesn’t have that fancy-schmancy, full of gimmick-thing going on.

When my cousin told me about her plans visiting Korea and her, being so kind had offered if I wanted something from there, naturally, I said “Innisfree!”

I set up a list and she managed to get them all :D
