THE FRUIT COMPOTE

The Good and The Forbidden

Warming Up to Aurelia Revitalize & Glow Serum

December 30, 2015

I was introduced to the lovely world of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare by the ever-so-effervescent Puche. This gorgeous lady brought so many temptations in my skincare life. If you don’t know her yet, go follow her Instagram where she shares her honest beauty tips and reviews, while we get to enjoy her flawless-self and witty personality.

Anyway, she was praising about this particular serum, actually no, she was praising about many products from the brand. I couldn’t stop thinking about them that I asked her to bring one for me.

After many considerations, I decided to try the serum. It’s quite.. unexpected.

Aurelia Revitalize & Glow Serum.

What it is (from the website):

A lightweight and easily absorbed potent age prevention fluid. It fuses Aurelia Probiotic Skincare’s technology with BioOrganic plant and flower essences, enabling accelerated action on the dermis layer within the skin while depositing probiotics, peptides and antioxidants where they are most needed. This addictive serum works to hydrate and soothe dull and dehydrated skin promoting a luminous, dewy and radiant glow whilst helping to prevent skin aging.

Key ingredients:

BAOBAB – A super fruit rich in Omega 3, 6, and 9 to revitalize the skin.
HIBISCUS – Antioxidant rich ‘nature’s Botox
MONGONGO OIL – Vitamin E & fatty acids for restructuring & regenerating
KIGELIA AFRICANA – Soothing and firming properties

Great ingredients. Loads of antioxidants. Beautiful lightweight texture.

I had high hopes for this serum, but..

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure about how I feel about this serum. I used it in different schedules but I felt that it might’ve given me some blemishes, especially when I used it at nighttime. So I ended up reserving it for my morning routine.

But I am not willing to give up just yet. The texture of this Aurelia serum is absolutely addictive! As described, it’s very lightweight and the milky lotion consistency spreads and sinks quickly into the skin. The box says to use just two drops for the face, neck and decolletage. At first, it sounded such a small amount but two drops are really quite enough to cover the neck. Not the decolletage, though, but with proper blending and the light of hands I can spread it down and that area can taste a little bit of the serum. To compensate this, I just take an extra drop, or two fat drops.

And don’t even get me on the scent, it’s delightfully uplifting!

One day, I started to realize the beauty of this serum. I notice that my skin loves and loves it the more I use it. The only difference this time was my skin just recovered from a breakout and it was dehydrated as heck. I think all of the acne-bashing treatment was taking a toll on my skin. It was dull and lack of luster.

This time, I had a feeling the Aurelia serum will be a good remedy for this. I started to use it again, constantly. Night and day. And my goodness, my skin drinks it up. Not long afterwards, I saw the improvements and my skin started to come back to life. It’s like a fresh juice, full of the beautiful nutrients. The antioxidants are good for the skin and it helps the skin to be more resilient against the damaging free radicals. I can see that my complexion has improved ever since I started to use this regularly.

The serum is also hydrating and soothing on the skin, making the whole experience to be even better. I have brought this to my recent work trips (especially on cities where the air is cooler and more drying). The proportionally-sized bottle makes it handy and compact in my pouch. It has kept my skin balanced and hydrated, preventing me to have that sallow, washed-out face.

True to its name, it revitalizes and gives a radiant glow to the skin. It’s not the shiny glow that I get from acid, but it’s just as good! If any, it compliments the acid glow really well. The radiance and the luster it gives are obvious when I wake up the next morning. And I just adore it! When I use it in the morning, it gives a beautiful base for my makeup. It’s everything that I expected from this serum previously and now I can actually harvest it.

Suddenly, Aurelia serum is perfect.

The serum is the perfect companion to use with Sunday Riley Luna Oil. It complements and gives balance in terms of hydration and nourishing properties when Luna is doing fine tuning to the skin’s texture. It boosts up the results altogether, I must say.

One more thing, this water-based serum is also a beautiful vessel when making a micro emulsion with face oil (my favorites are Odacité Pa+G and KYPRIS Beauty Elixir II). On the palm of my hand, I take the usual two fat drops of the serum then add 2-3 drops of face oil, mix the two together before applying and massaging it into the skin. This creates the most beautiful finish on the skin. Soft and very moisturized.

—

All in all, Aurelia Revitalize & Glow Serum is an elegant serum that I can use everyday (except when I’m having breakouts, obviously). But thank goodness I haven’t had one since then so I get to enjoy this serum more often these days.

Before I knew it, I’m down to less than a quarter left of this serum. I’m quite heartbroken, didn’t realize that it runs out so soon! This is definitely in the repurchase bag and I’ll get a new bottle sometime next year. This has become a staple daily serum in my skincare arsenal and to be honest, I don’t want to be without it.

This needs to be in my vanity. Period.

      Hi there,

In regards of Aurelia, I found it didn’t help reducing the breakout/blemishes. But then again, this is just based from my own experience.

In general, kalau lagi breakout tetap bisa pakai serum as long as it suits the skin’s needs, which is targeting the issue itself.

      Hope that helps!

        Hi kae,

Thanksssss bgt jawabannya. And i saw your review on luna too, the 2 products quite stuck in my head last few weeks hehe. After luna, is it too much if i use moisturizer again considering am quite oily type of skin? And last, Do u know trusted ol shop that selling Luna?:) thanks a bunchhhhh Kae! 😊

          Hi Sylvie,

I’d suggest to use another product on top of Luna. Keep in mind that Luna is not used in place of a face oil. It’s supposed to be used first, not last.
If you read my review, I always layer other products on top of it otherwise Luna will dry my skin.

Try @shoppinglust to get Luna and other Sunday Riley products.

I love that fragrance isn’t always about figuring out the notes, but more on the inspiration, story and how it makes one feel. It’s a unique journey to each their own, both the perfumer and the wearer.

I’m just gonna write it down here: Beige, Gabrielle Essence, Jersey and perhaps 1932.

What’s yours?

[ S A V E ] It’s no secret that I love @clarinsi [ S A V E ] It’s no secret that I love @clarinsid Bright Plus range, ini salah satu brightening series yg paling AMPUH di aku dan yang bisa balikin warna natural skin tone aku yang aslinya agak pink ini ☺️ - sampe beberapa foundation ku gak cocok lagi shadenya 🥲

Having to use the Serum for over a year already, begitu aku tau Ampoule-nya akan launch, tentu aku HARUS cobain juga 😍

I’ve been using it since late February and it definitely does deliver results ✨ Berhubung aku uda hafal dengan kinerja si Serum, aku bisa bilang si Ampoule ini kerjanya jauh lebih cepat dan nendang! Lebih cerah, dark spots yg lebih gelap memudar, dan rosiness-nya tetep dapet!

As I said, sebaiknya pakai 4 Ampoule selama sebulan, commit to it and see the difference. Tapi setelah 2 Ampoule pun udah keliatan kok.

Bisa buat bantu pudarin PIH setelah acne gak? Bisa, tapi pastiin jerawatnya udah beres ya..

Berhubung ini kandungan Vit C-nya 15%, gotta be prepared ya! Make sure to use hydrating & calming products preferably. Harus banget pakai sunscreen, it helps to prolong the performance of Vitamin C, and together they will boost skin’s sun defense capabilities!

Use my code KAE100K untuk dapat potongan di www.clarins.co.id! Kalo first timer dapet 10% off lho! Existing customer 100K with min. purchase 1 mio. Belanja 1.2 mio dapet 3 freebies. Saranku ya sabet si Bright Plus Fresh Ampoulet set! 😆 Udah dapat 4 pcs dan bisa langsung kalian pake untuk intensive brightening treatment!

The lips are so dry, thanks to mouth ulcer aka sar The lips are so dry, thanks to mouth ulcer aka sariawan 😌 so a balmy lippie it is.. the kind that will help to protect and smooth the flaky bits, but still gives some color..

The @cledepeaubeaute I’m using is unfortunately a limited edition shade 513 from the Lip Glorifier line. That being said, Lip Glorifier is one of my go-to daily lip balms. It’s also a good base for another lip color on top. Moisturizing but not too slick or wet, making it suitable to go with matte formula without changing the finish too much.

Maybe I’ll do a separate reel to showcase the beauty of Lip Glorifier soon ☺️

JANGAN JOROK, plis 😌 Clearly, washing makeup to JANGAN JOROK, plis 😌 Clearly, washing makeup tools is IMPORTANT for hygienic reasons, setidaknya mencegah jerawat karena makeup tools yg kotor. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience 🥲

However, I tried this and found out I’m not diligent enough to do it. In the end, a proper deep cleanse is best and needed. Yang penting cari cleanser yg cocok dan gak bikin bulunya megar atau bahkan crispy (suer ini horor banget).

A big NO-NO is to dunk or even soak the entire brush into water. Just NO 😰 It could ruin the ferrule, disintegrate the glue holding the handle and bristles.. cuci bagian bulunya aja udah paling aman 👌🏼

Pas jemur, aku suka ganjel sedikit bagian handle dengan handuk biar brush dan sisa airnya turun kebawah. Never store wet brushes upright. For reasons above.

I also like to put a fan in front of the brushes, biar keringnya lebih cepat dan merata, terutama buat brush yg lebih besar dan padat. Lumayan sehari aja bisa kering, biasanya bisa 2-3 harian.

Oh, powder puff dan cushion puff dicuci juga ya. I know not all of them can be washed (some disintegrate), tapi kalo bisa ya cuci hehe.

So, have you cleaned your makeup tools? 👀
