Lancôme Énergie De Vie

December 21, 2017

I must admit, ever since Lisa Eldridge was appointed as Lancome’s Creative Director of Makeup in 2015, I have been paying more attention to the brand. It’s on my radar. Of course, I know Lancome. The brand’s vibe for years was catered towards grown women so it was a little hard to connect with the products. Lisa‘s creative touch was only started to be seen in 2016 when Juicy Shakers are introduced. From then on, L’absolu Rouge (and few others) got a facelift among with numerous exciting new products. She made so many changes and improvements in the past couple of years. Her vast knowledge and effortless sense of style were put to really good use. I think Lancome made an absolutely brilliant move for snatching her up!

Though I can’t know for sure whether she has any say in the skincare department, I can almost feel her touch in this area as well. At the very least, I was waiting for the brand’s prospective change. There’s one particular skincare line that was introduced in last year’s summer that became one of my favorites in 2016 and it is the Lancome Energie de Vie*.

NIOD CAIS + MMHC

December 14, 2017

Deciem is a Toronto-based company and the umbrella for different brands that have gained massive popularity in say, less than 2 years. One of the brands, The Ordinary, is probably the most successful after only being launched a little over a year ago and has become an instant cult favorite for many. Since my visit last year, Deciem has grown exponentially, landing a (controversial) investment with Estee Lauder (read here, here and here) and short to say, there’s no stopping them at this point. Brandon Truaxe has really set out what he intended to, disrupt and challenge the beauty industry.

In the past year, I’ve been trying several of the products, specifically from NIOD (Non-Invasive Options in Dermal Science). In all seriousness, reviewing these products is a challenge for me. I am intimidated by them. NIOD is very science-based and my brain just doesn’t go that far up there. The terms and jargons used are way above what average people might understand. And I get that. It’s pushing us to go out of the box and be more critical.

Despite all of this, I am going to attempt to convey my thoughts, in the best possible, The Fruit Compote way. Let me start with NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1.00% (CAIS) and Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex (MMHC).

Watercolor Foliage Wedding Invitation

December 6, 2017

There were a few things in the wedding that we got help from and eventually enabled us to save the budget. These came from none other than our own family members. The wedding invitation was the very first that we worked on with our cousin, Marini. She was actually the one who offered to design the invitation before we even get to her!

My fiancé (now-husband) let me handled the idea and brainstorming process. We both kind of have the same taste and preferences so we trust each other. That way, we can split our duties to share the workload of the wedding prep.

So, shall we?

Our wedding invitation.

Our Wedding Rings

November 24, 2017

On, 5 November 2017, we are married in front of God with the Sacrament of Matrimony in a Catholic Church. After the heartfelt, sacred vow exchange, came the time to put on the rings. The wedding rings we put on symbolize our love and fidelity to each other.

To us, it’s more than that. Our wedding rings have a sweet background story that I’d like to keep as a memoir in this blog. Preserving the sentiments. And that maybe we can share it with our children (and grandchildren) in the future.

The Wedding Nails

November 22, 2017

The last time I wrote anything nail-related was in 2015. Here it is, 2 years later, I’m married to the love of my life *aww* This post will mark the first of the wedding series, where I’ll share few bits of pieces of our pre and wedding details.

Alright, wedding nails. I made it a decision early that I have to use gel polish. I didn’t want to fuss about my nails, looking at them, searching and wondering whether they’d chipped or not. As much as I dislike the removals and how they make my thin nails even thinner afterward, I have to make an exception. Gel polish is practically foolproof and that’s what I need.

So, here are the nails I wear happily on my big day.

NUDE Overnight Repair Mask – One I Can Count On

October 24, 2017

Overnight masks, in general, are great quick fixes. They’re one step above wash-off masks and can truly deliver instant results. Please note, the term “instant” here means no miracle in the way that they will cure all of your skin problems – NO. So, if you’re expecting that, you’ll probably new here and need to read this post. Anyway, overnight masks are usually more nourishing and moisturizing on the skin, instead of being clarifying. I don’t think using a clarifying mask overnight is a good idea. Can you imagine how dry the skin will be in the morning? *shivers*

This is one of those products that I keep coming back to. It just works whenever my skin needed it. It just does.

The Body Shop Spa Of The World Firming Ritual – Prepping for The Big Day

September 22, 2017

Everyone, or at least beauty junkies anyway, loves a good me-time. Whether it’s putting on makeup, walking in the city, going to the movies alone, or just watching Netflix (oh wait, that’s me too). In my case, any skincare routine is my me-time. To put it in simple terms, I pamper myself everyday 😀

Spending the time in taking good care of ourselves, whatever that might be, will do wonderful things for our psyche. Happy mood will increase our productivity during the day. Ensures to have clearer mind and give a more positive vibe to our aura.

As my wedding day approaches, I’m trying to keep my calm and zen as I have throughout the whole preparation. I won’t lie there were a few times where certain situations ticked my nerves. But, all in good fun. There’s a new routine I’ve introduced in the past couple of weeks. Nothing drastic or risky, just a great addition to the existing one I have.

It’s The Body Shop Spa Of The World Firming Ritual*.

BASIC SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanse – Hydrate – Moisturize – Protect (SPF)

Sunscreen at daytime, always.
Double Cleanse at night, a must!

Exfoliate regularly, as necessary, and don’t overdo it.
Don’t forget to use a Hydrating Toner after Exfoliating Acid Toner to prevent dryness and irritation.

Opt for calming and soothing products more than anything else. Pick gentle cleansers. Aim for hydration and moisture. Maintain the skin barrier.

Proper hydration and balanced moisturization are key to achieving a healthy skin, even if your skin is oily.

Always be gentle on your skin.

Thankfully, I do find it quite easy to follow journey and explore the fragrances. Many of the scents are easily loved, yet they don’t feel that mass either. Some of them are light enough to be combined with each other.

It’s also convenient that each scent is available in 3 sizes: 2.5 ml, 30 ml and 100 ml.
