Complexion Routine: The Extra Mile

May 20, 2015

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a photo on my Instagram showing my makeup that I did to attend one of my high school friends’ wedding. I took this occasion as a challenge because I had PMS and my skin was breaking out pretty bad. Not just that, my skin was really dehydrated and there were quite a few of dry patches because I still had a flu back then. Bottom line, my skin wasn’t its usual self.

That day, I needed to look presentable (more than usual), polished without looking like I piled on a lot on my face; I never liked that look and I’m not about to start now. In this post, I will cover a lot of things, not just list of products, but also details on why I like them and how I use them. This way, I hope that I also can share my complexion makeup routine.

That being said, this is going to be a LONG post. Brace yourself. Grab a popcorn.

Without further adieu, here’s what I did and use on my complexion:

Never Forget – Inner Corner Highlight!

May 8, 2015

One of the most-asked questions I got from people on my Instagram, emails and in real life is what I use on my inner corners in my eye makeup. Well, before I sound like a broken record, I think it’s wise to just make a post about it!

Inner corner highlight is an integral part of my eye makeup. It’s highly crucial that I never missed this step. The one time that I did forget, I felt something big was missing. My makeup didn’t feel complete without it.

See, the thing is, highlighting the inner corners does so many good things to my eyes and overall makeup look. It gives more definition to my eyes and creates an illusion of a bigger, wider set of eyes. I also think it makes the sides of my nose appear slimmer when paired with a nose contour.

And of course, it makes me look AWAKE.

Warm Eyes with Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No.3 – The Glam

March 10, 2015

Here I am, back again with yet another effort in jazzing up my eye makeup. I can honestly say I’m having quite a lot of fun experimenting. Nothing advanced though like a lot of people out there. Just something to push me a little bit more to the edge.

The eye shadows that I’ve been playing around with lately are from Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No.3 – 108 The Glam*; which I received during the brand’s official launch in Sephora Indonesia (thank you!).

Shall we take a look?

Wishlist: Loose Powders

October 31, 2014

I have been a loyal fan of Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre for as long as I can remember. I trust this to set any foundation that I use. Even though now I rarely wear foundations, I still use this before my pressed powder (I use MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural nowadays) and after makeup base/primer. It sets and holds the makeup beautifully. It has a rather matte finish. I don’t mind it because I prefer to go matte rather than going dewy from the get go. I like my face smooth to the touch, not tacky.

I’d say the price is very reasonable for a high end brand. At USD 52, it contains 30 grams of product. Huge amount and it lasts for a really long time, at least 1.5 years or so for me. Bottom line, it’s perfect.

That being said though, I’ve grown rather bored of it. It’s still a great powder. I’m just trying to expand my wings on the powder field. After looking around, I’ve come up with several products in the consideration box.

BASIC SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanse – Hydrate – Moisturize – Protect (SPF)

Sunscreen at daytime, always.
Double Cleanse at night, a must!

Exfoliate regularly, as necessary, and don’t overdo it.
Don’t forget to use a Hydrating Toner after Exfoliating Acid Toner to prevent dryness and irritation.

Opt for calming and soothing products more than anything else. Pick gentle cleansers. Aim for hydration and moisture. Maintain the skin barrier.

Proper hydration and balanced moisturization are key to achieving a healthy skin, even if your skin is oily.

Always be gentle on your skin.

Thankfully, I do find it quite easy to follow journey and explore the fragrances. Many of the scents are easily loved, yet they don’t feel that mass either. Some of them are light enough to be combined with each other.

It’s also convenient that each scent is available in 3 sizes: 2.5 ml, 30 ml and 100 ml.

Do you have a favorite from this brand?
