THE FRUIT COMPOTE

The Good and The Forbidden

Odacité Pa+G Packs A Punch!

June 14, 2016

If you’ve been following me for some time, you’d know that I’m all about customizing my skincare routine. It gives me room and a lot of freedom to deal with specific issues depending on my skin condition that changes from time to time. I’m also a firm believer that there is no such thing as a one miracle, do-it-all product. No matter how perfect a product is, it needs others to create one harmonious unity. Hence, the customized routine.

Odacité has a line called Serum Concentrate where each of the serums contains highly concentrated dose of actives and formulated to target a specific skin issue. With numerous ways in incorporating it into the routine, this line excites me A LOT!

With 18 serums to choose from, it can be quite a task. But being the girl who struggles with hyperpigmentation, naturally, I opt for Odacité Pa+G as my first (out of three).

Antipodes Apostle Serum – Carrying A Few Messages

May 31, 2016

Yet another cheesy title. I know. It will all make sense in a bit.

Say hello to Antipodes Apostle Skin-Brightening Serum, another product from the New Zealand brand that I came to really enjoy using. I didn’t love it from the get go. I needed some time to adjust and get used to it.

This serum was the first on my wishlist, simply because it has the skin-brightening words on it. When I hear stuff like that, naturally I got curious because I have a lot of hyperpigmentation from post-acne spots that I would love to get rid off. But mostly, my skin can get really uneven in tone, blotchy and it’s something that I need to tackle pretty much on a daily basis.

Let’s dissect this serum.

My Japan Holiday Trip – Skincare Routine

March 10, 2016

I thought I should share what skincare products I brought and used during my recent Japan trip. This particular one is special because I’ve yet traveled in any winter weather since I started my skincare journey few years ago. So let’s just say this is sort of an educated experiment that turned successful.

Obviously, I researched and visualized the weather conditions and temperature. It was the end of winter, coming into spring. With that in mind, I had a general idea of a set of products that I want to bring with me. Of course, they have to fit into my skincare bag. I had to negotiate here and there to make sure the bag isn’t too heavy. The total weight overall came to around 1 – 1.5 kg, I think. Or probably more *HA*. The bag did feel heavy.

Another info you need to know is I got sick a couple days before my departure. Sore throat, fatigue, headache. All escalated into one nasty cold, congestion with frequent coughing within the first few days of my trip. Thank goodness, I was prepared.

Without further adieu, let’s get to it!

Quench – KYPRIS Antioxidant Dew

January 22, 2016

The world of KYPRIS has taken over my skincare routine, big time.

I think I kind of knew, I felt an instant chemistry with the brand with its enticing philosophy; which led me in getting all three of the serums at once. Each of them complements each other and even become a good pairing for other skincare products from different brands too.

This particular serum from the brand makes me me fall in love head over heels and it’s the fastest serum I’ve used up in quite a while. It’s saying something considering I adapt my skincare routine accordingly to my skin’s needs but this one happens to fit in most of it, if not all.

It is the KYPRIS Antioxidant Dew.

Warming Up to Aurelia Revitalize & Glow Serum

December 30, 2015

I was introduced to the lovely world of Aurelia Probiotic Skincare by the ever-so-effervescent Puche. This gorgeous lady brought so many temptations in my skincare life. If you don’t know her yet, go follow her Instagram where she shares her honest beauty tips and reviews, while we get to enjoy her flawless-self and witty personality.

Anyway, she was praising about this particular serum, actually no, she was praising about many products from the brand. I couldn’t stop thinking about them that I asked her to bring one for me.

After many considerations, I decided to try the serum. It’s quite.. unexpected.

Balance – KYPRIS Clearing Serum

September 22, 2015

Ah.. KYPRIS.. My newfound love.

Ever since I discovered the brand, reading through the inspiration, the story behind it, the philosophy, its efforts and support in sustainability, I’m sold. I’m infatuated with it deeply. Read all about it here and you’ll understand why. KYPRIS awakens my inner desire to come back to nature, to appreciate and cherish what it has to offer. To simplify. To give and to take. To compliment myself. To feel beautiful.

The founder, Chase Polan, is one charismatic being. Incredibly passionate in what she does in creating this luxurious holistic skincare line filled with organic, wild crafted, and sustainably grown botanicals. Listening to her, the way that she talks; fluent and articulate. Wow, she is truly a goddess of modern day.

To quote, KYPRIS is “Beauty with a Soul supported by Science”.

This review will be about its Clearing Serum.

Keeping It Tight with TATCHA Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum

September 4, 2015

Hydration.

It’s the one crucial factor that I always try to incorporate in my skincare routine, and ultimately, in everyday life. I believe that hydration is the fundamental foundation on the journey to great, healthy skin for years to come.

While we may not be able banish wrinkles and fine lines altogether (seriously, aging is a privilege!), we can at least make the skin more supple and plumper, less prune-like if you know what I mean. Hence, those lines won’t be as visible. Hydration is possibly the easiest solution.

One of my favorite products to do just that is TATCHA Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum.

BASIC SKINCARE ROUTINE

Cleanse – Hydrate – Moisturize – Protect (SPF)

Sunscreen at daytime, always.
Double Cleanse at night, a must!

Exfoliate regularly, as necessary, and don’t overdo it.
Don’t forget to use a Hydrating Toner after Exfoliating Acid Toner to prevent dryness and irritation.

Opt for calming and soothing products more than anything else. Pick gentle cleansers. Aim for hydration and moisture. Maintain the skin barrier.

Proper hydration and balanced moisturization are key to achieving a healthy skin, even if your skin is oily.

Always be gentle on your skin.

Thankfully, I do find it quite easy to follow journey and explore the fragrances. Many of the scents are easily loved, yet they don’t feel that mass either. Some of them are light enough to be combined with each other.

It’s also convenient that each scent is available in 3 sizes: 2.5 ml, 30 ml and 100 ml.

Do you have a favorite from this brand?
