It’s been a while since I do these nail art posts. I was on a hiatus, taking a break from painting my nails due to the yellow tinge on them. Because, honestly, no matter what I do, excessive use of nail polish will make my nails turn yellow. They look unattractive, which resulted in me keep covering them. It’s an evil circle.

So, I decided to stop for a bit. Getting used to seeing my good ol’ plain nails. Not even applying OPI Nail Envy although I have to say that after a while, my nails became the way they were, brittle. That means, OPI Nail Envy is doing its work, strengthen my nails. I’m back using it again, but stayed off from the actual color.

Long story short, I was under stress and had a lot on my mind lately and one of the best ways to relieve that is to paint some talons. I bought quite a few a while back and it’s time to put them to good use.

On my trip to Hong Kong last November, one of the things in my beauty wish list was to get the fairly-new Tom Ford matte lipstick offerings in Black Dahlia and others. But to my disappointment, the Beauty Advisor told me that the counter only carry a couple of shades for now and was unsure if Hong Kong will carry the whole line up.

Feeling a little bummed, I gave the only two shades available a swatch and decided that I might be able to work this particular shade that I ended up getting.

But I’m going to post it anyway because hey, who knows it’s going to make a comeback, yet again.

Lately, I’ve been seeing many local Indonesians come up with handmade beauty brands. To be honest, I never touch local brands anymore because I’ve tried a few in the past and they just didn’t work for me. Too many pet peeves, the biggest one being the pungent artificial scent. And the too-affordable price tags alarm me too. Call me skeptical, sure, because I am.

With this new breed of handmade cosmetics, only a handful that piqued my interest. One of them is Evete Naturals, a Yogyakarta-based small brand. It pronounces as “i-vet” which means feminine in Italian. The people behind the brand are three best friends with chemical engineering background who have a love for beauty products and a passion for a healthier lifestyle. The brand prides itself in using quality natural ingredients with no mineral oil, no parabens and no artificial colorant.

Currently, the brand offers two products, lip balms and body butters. Today, I’ll be reviewing the lip balms first.

Here I am, back again with yet another effort in jazzing up my eye makeup. I can honestly say I’m having quite a lot of fun experimenting. Nothing advanced though like a lot of people out there. Just something to push me a little bit more to the edge.

The eye shadows that I’ve been playing around with lately are from Marc Jacobs Beauty Style Eye Con No.3 – 108 The Glam*; which I received during the brand’s official launch in Sephora Indonesia (thank you!).

It’s befuddling how browsing the net could bring us to. I’m always astonished, because otherwise I won’t be able to find the vast amount of information and of course, new products to try.

It was just a harmless (yeah, right) snooping around a certain beauty website’s brands list and chanced upon this brand. I then proceeded and read a bit about the brand’s history and philosophy, including the founder’s story. And it was really a chemistry sparked from the get-go. So, I took the plunge.
